Board laments loss of inmate labor

CARROLLTON — Carroll supervisors expressed concern Monday about a plan by the Mississippi Department of Corrections to reduce inmate numbers at county jails.

The plan put forth by new MDOC head Marshall Fisher would reduce by 12 the number of inmates who are approved for work in the Carroll Montgomery Regional Correctional Facility.

Carroll gunman search continues

CARROLLTON — School was going on as usual at Carroll Academy today after a man with a gun was spotted on campus Tuesday morning.

Sheriff Jerry Carver, who was out of town at a medical appointment when the incident occurred, said he was incorrect when he said Tuesday that the man was not on campus.
