Leflore County players reflect on school’s best season

JACKSON — The Leflore County Tigers gathered underneath the basket inside the Mississippi Coliseum after coming up short in the state championship game Friday.
The team, which includes four seniors, stared across the floor quietly as their opponent, Calhoun City, lifted the MHSAA State 1A championship trophy.

Cate, who dreams of becoming a librarian or author, was diagnosed with a rare blood disorder when she was 2 months old.

The Greenwood Leflore Consolidated School Board voted Wednesday to close Claudine Brown Elementary and Threadgill Primary schools.
The move will take effect at the start of the 2026-2027 school year.
