Devilettes enjoying new gear

The Mississippi Valley State University women’s basketball program has received new gear courtesy of Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant, and his mother, Jamie Morant.
The Morants provided the Devilettes with new all-white jerseys and multiple colorways of Ja 3 sneakers, which is the two-time NBA All-Star’s latest signature shoe.

Mitchell chosen as board president

Leflore County District 4 Supervisor Eric Mitchell has been chosen as the board’s president.
The board unanimously voted for Mitchell for the head position, with District 5’s Robert Collins moving to vice president. Collins had been the board’s president for the previous two years.

ArtPlace to celebrate Lunar New Year

ArtPlace Mississippi is kicking off the Lunar New Year with its third annual dinner celebration in collaboration with Mai Little China.
The event will be held Jan. 31 and will welcome in the Year of the Horse, which symbolizes courage, momentum and new beginnings.

GLT asking for donations to help secure grant

Greenwood Little Theatre is looking to raise funds to match a grant it received from the Mississippi Arts Commission.
The grant, totaling $3,000, requires an equal match from Greenwood Little Theatre. Erin Jacobs Stagner, president of GLT, said the theater had $550 left to raise as of Friday morning.
