Moore’s charges tossed

Charges of DUI and speeding against Leflore County Supervisor Reginald Moore have been dismissed following an appeal of his conviction.
Leflore County Judge James K. Littleton dismissed the case Wednesday based on the testimony provided by the arresting state trooper and the absence of the original speeding ticket in court.

Mentoring group to hold annual prayer breakfast May 3

The Greenwood Mentoring Group will hold its annual prayer breakfast May 3 at the Andrew McQueen Jr. Civic Center.
The 19th annual fundraiser will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. A donation of $30 is requested, with the funds going toward free programs for the community’s children.

To do that work well takes skilled reporters and editors, as many as a community can support through advertising, subscriptions and philanthropy.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
