The Leflore County Board of Supervisors unanimously voted Monday to form a partnership with Holmes County’s long-term recovery committee so that Leflore County may receive state funds to address damage from last month’s flooding.

Hospital CEO, surgeon call for Miss. Medicaid expansion

Two senior staff members of Greenwood Leflore Hospital are in favor of Mississippi expanding its Medicaid program, saying that the expansion would not only benefit the hospital but also increase health care services to people who can not afford them.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
