School board prepares for new year

In anticipation of resuming in-person instruction in August, the Greenwood Leflore Consolidated School Board approved resolutions Tuesday for the 2021-2022 academic year.
Topics addressed included handbooks for students and staff, bus routes, a dropout prevention plan and an instructional management plan, among others.

Disaster recovery committee approved

Forum for flood victims set Thursday

Two events will be held later this week as a continued effort to assist Leflore County residents whose lives were upended by the flooding last month.
On Thursday, beginning at 7 p.m. at the Leflore County Civic Center, a second town hall meeting will be held for flood victims.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
