It took only 83 minutes for the last Delta Supper Club event held at the New Roxy Theater in Clarksdale to sell out of 100 tickets.

For only its second gathering, the flood of interest was a happy surprise for organizers Stewart Robinson of Oxford, Chef David Crews of Cleveland and Kimme Hargrove of Greenwood.

Relay for Life fundraiser Saturday

A fundraising event for Relay for Life of Leflore County will be held Saturday at the Elks Lodge, located at 1010 Sgt. John Pittman Drive.

The event will be held from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will feature a grilling contest, an arts and crafts booth, food vendors and live entertainment.

First Presbyterian Church to celebrate Scottish heritage

First Presbyterian Church will celebrate its Scottish roots with its 17th Kirkin’ O’ the Tartans celebration.

The event will be held at 10 a.m. on March 6 and will start with a 40-minute performance by the Lyons College Pipes and Drums on Main Street in front of the church’s sanctuary.

To do that work well takes skilled reporters and editors, as many as a community can support through advertising, subscriptions and philanthropy.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
