Community celebration

The Greenwood-Leflore County Chamber of Commerce is preparing for its largest annual celebration of the business community.

The Chamber of Commerce’s 99th Annual Meeting, which includes Taste of Greenwood and Business Expo, will be held March 3 at the Leflore County Civic Center.

'The Good Doctor'

The Greenwood Little Theatre is gearing up to present “The Good Doctor,” a Neil Simon comedy based on the short stories of Russian writer Anton Chekhov.

The play will be a last hurrah as director for Sandi Wheatley, a veteran actress and director who has been active in the Greenwood Little Theatre since 1982.

It’s the reason why he has worked at the Boys & Girls Club in Greenwood for the past 13 years.

Jones now serves as the organization’s director, having previously worked at the club as an instructor and athletic director.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
