Carroll Academy will graduate 24 seniors at its commencement exercise Monday night.

The program will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the school gymnasium. A baccalaureate service is scheduled for 5 p.m. Sunday in the gym.

Reed Williams is class valedictorian, and Connor Stephenson is salutatorian.

Keesler airmen to visit Friday

A group from Keesler Air Force Base will come to Greenwood on Friday to learn about the base’s namesake — 2nd Lt. Samuel R. Keesler Jr.

This year marks the 75th anniversary of the air base, which is in Biloxi. Samuel Reeves Keesler Jr. served in the United States Army Air Service in World War I with the 24th Aero Squadron.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
