What started as an apparent sinkhole in the 400 block of Avenue A turned into a collapsed sewer line and a major headache for Greenwood officials Tuesday afternoon.

Making matters worse, the 15-inch line is buried 18 feet underground.

Deputies arrest man in holdup

A Greenwood man has been charged with a Sunday night armed robbery in Leflore County.

Milton Lee Gilbert, 24, 109 Ainsworth St., remained in the Leflore County Jail this morning.

Gilbert was wanted in connection with the robbery of Triple Stop No. 4 on Mississippi 430.

Prayer breakfast set for Saturday
