53 students in Carroll district are quarantined

Fifty-three students in the Carroll County School District, or approximately 6% of its student population, have been quarantined due to an exposure to the coronavirus.

The two-school district is reporting that of its 835 students, 43 at J.Z. George High School and another 10 at Marshall Elementary are being isolated.

In-person classes might be offered starting Jan. 5

Greenwood Leflore Consolidated School District students may be able to return for some form of in-person classes on Jan. 5.

Dr. Mary Brown, the district’s superintendent, presented the possible early-2021 start date as part of a draft schedule to the school board Wednesday at its regular work session.

Art for a good cause

A mural-painting project recently brought a colorful splash to Avenue I.

“Pre-school Mural Morning,” which was co-hosted by ArtPlace Mississippi and the Greenwood Community Center, was a crowd-sourced effort to paint the Community Center’s building on Saturday.
