53 seniors to graduate from Pillow Academy

Pillow Academy is set to send off its team of Mustangs during the Class of 2021’s commencement ceremony at 6 p.m. Friday.
The group of 53 seniors will walk the stage at the Leflore County Civic Center and receive their diplomas.

Ready for work

Many local businesses are hiring, yet nearly one in every 10 adults in Leflore County is unemployed, which is making some wonder why that is.
During a drive-through job fair at the Leflore County Civic Center on Wednesday, dozens were eagerly applying for open positions with some of the area’s most prominent businesses.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
