As Greenwood searches for a new tourism director, the commission charged with making the hire will consist of mostly new appointees.
On Tuesday, the Greenwood City Council reappointed only one of the existing members of the seven-person group that oversees the city’s tourism efforts.

N. Greenwood Baptist to host ‘Night to Shine’ in February

North Greenwood Baptist Church will host an event next February in which those with special needs can be a part of a special prom night experience.
The church and other host sites are partnering with the Tim Tebow Foundation in celebrating people with special needs simultaneously on Feb. 11 in an event called “Night to Shine.”

To do that work well takes skilled reporters and editors, as many as a community can support through advertising, subscriptions and philanthropy.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
