Group’s retreat focuses on unity

A diverse group of Greenwood citizens discussed ways to bring the town together during a recent weekend retreat.

The Bridge, a group that frequently meets in Greenwood to discuss the same issues, took a trip to Lake Tiak O’Khata, near Louisville, to expand its discussion of this topic.

Blues fest to feature some favorites

The lineup for the Mississippi Blues Fest on March 6 will include Lebrado, O.B. Buchana, Denise LaSalle, Wen-dell B and Wilson Meadows.

The festival will be held at the Leflore County Civic Center. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are on sale for $25.

Nero praised as 'the Tiger Woods of orthodontics'

To do that work well takes skilled reporters and editors, as many as a community can support through advertising, subscriptions and philanthropy.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
