Supervisors approve hospital budget

The Leflore County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved an operating budget of $1.7 million for Greenwood Leflore Hospital for fiscal year 2015-2016 on Tuesday.

Supervisors Robert Moore and Phil Wolfe were absent.

Judge lifts stay on Abraham lawsuit

Attorney Lee Abraham’s civil suit against Dr. Arnold Smith, the physician accused of conspiring to kill him in 2012, will be allowed to proceed now that a judge has lifted an automatic stay on it.

Federal Bankruptcy Judge Edward Ellington lifted the stay in an order signed Aug. 25.

Local man leads pro-state-flag effort

For the past three weekends, supporters of the Mississippi state flag have become a common sight in Greenwood, both in front of the Leflore County Courthouse and along West Park Avenue.

Most of the demonstrations have been organized by Save the Flag - Leflore County, founded by Greenwood native Steve Miller.
