Since Schlater obtained a new fire truck in early July, the town’s public protection classification has been upgraded from ninth class to seventh class by the Mississippi State Rating Bureau.
Michael Walker, chief of Schlater’s volunteer fire department, said the new rating means lower insurance payments for Schlater residents.
