Company buys Master Scales’ assets

The assets of Greenwood-based industrial scale distributor Master Scales have been purchased by an Indiana-based company, System Scale.

System Scale, headquartered in Indianapolis, is entirely employee-owned and has offices across the Midwest and Mid-South.

The purchase was finalized on Monday.

Local drive gathers help for Flint

A charity initiative to bring clean water to the residents of Flint, Michigan, is exceeding expectations.

Dr. Adrienne Hicks, president of the ALH Foundation, will be departing for Michigan along with other ALH staff late tonight to personally take several hundred cases of bottled water to churches and civic organizations.

Hospital property purchase approved

The Leflore County Board of Supervisors on Monday approved the purchase of property on Strong Avenue by Greenwood Leflore Hospital for eventual development into an urgent-care clinic.

The motion passed 3-1 with District 2’s Robert Moore casting the sole no vote. District 3 Supervisor Anjuan Brown was absent.
