MVSU, alumni group settle dispute

Police arrest man in holdup

Two eyewitnesses followed a suspect after an armed robbery of a Greenwood convenience store Tuesday night, helping police catch him in short order.

A man walked into the Shell-go station at U.S. 82 and Tallahatchie Street with a gun and demanded the cash drawer, Deputy Chief Johnny Langdon said.

Wayne Self, who has served as board president for the past four years, nominated Robert Collins as the new president, and the board unanimously approved Collins.

Sheriff, deputies sued in shooting

Carroll County is facing two federal lawsuits totaling $4 million over an incident where deputies fired into a car in Holmes County last year.

Odessa Williams and his wife, Mary, sued on Dec. 21 and are seeking $2.5 million from a jury. Williams’ alleges deputies shot his car at least eight times on March 9 without provocation.
