Viking, city collaborate on new garden to supply kitchen

Viking Range Corp. and the city of Greenwood are teaming to create a produce garden that will supply fresh vegetables to the Greenwood Interfaith Ministries Community Kitchen.

Officials met at a vacant lot adjacent to the Johnson Street soup kitchen Thursday afternoon to make plans for planting the garden.

WABG returns to local cable TV

WABG-TV Channel 6 was back on Suddenlink Cable this afternoon after technical problems knocked out service Wednesday.

The station had been operating on reduced power due to mechanical failures at a transmission site in Inverness, said Sherry Nelson, vice president and general manager for station owner Commonwealth Broadcasting Group.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
