WABG-TV Channel 6 was back on Suddenlink Cable this afternoon after technical problems knocked out service Wednesday.
The station had been operating on reduced power due to mechanical failures at a transmission site in Inverness, said Sherry Nelson, vice president and general manager for station owner Commonwealth Broadcasting Group.
“We do appreciate the patience of the viewers very much,” she said.
The issues also affected the company’s Delta Fox 10, but Nelson said she called the Fox station in Jackson Wednesday and got permission for Suddenlink to use the Jackson station’s feed so viewers wouldn’t miss “American Idol.”
Nelson said the problems started with the primary transmitter on March 25. Then the backup system went down on Wednesday.
She said they’ve contracted outside assistance to fix the issues and hope to be at full wattage in the next few days.
