Pillow Academy hopes the third time is truly a charm.

For the third straight year, the Mustangs stand one win away from playing for a state championship on the gridiron. They face Lamar School Friday night in Meridian in the State AAAA, Division II semifinals.

PA lands knockout in Round 2

Just as it did in the regular-season matchup, Pillow Academy torched Washington School with its passing attack.

But this time no late defensive stand was needed for a dramatic win. The Mustangs won going away this time, 34-7, Friday night in Greenville in the opening round of the State AAAA, Division II playoffs.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.
