Mr. Bell, 21, died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2025, in Itta Bena.
He was a factory worker.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at Century Funeral Home.

The new head of school at Leflore Christian School is a longtime educator hoping to make an impact in his hometown and beyond.
Tim Burton, a 56-year-old Greenwood native, started his educational career at Cruger-Tchula Academy and then moved to Pillow Academy, where he spent 22 years in teaching, coaching and administrative positions.

Mississippi was one of two states where real GDP decreased in the second quarter of 2025.
Mississippi’s unemployment rate has changed little this year, while the state’s gross domestic product dipped slightly in the second quarter, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
