Pillow golf team shoots 331

The Pillow Academy golf team competed in the Bayou Academy Invitational Monday in Cleveland.
The Pillow ‘A’ team had a team score of 331 with its top four all shooting under 90. Caleb Harris and Bryar Bowen each carded an 80, and Christian Lymon shot 84. Maddux Wuestenhoefer shot 87.

Collins, Wright playing in all-star games

Amanda Elzy’s Rylee Collins will be playing in the Magnolia Sports Association’s all-star basketball game Saturday at East Central Community College in Decatur.
The game begins at 4 p.m. and Collins is a member of Team Ice. This game is called the Next Up Showcase for ninth and 10th graders.

Manager chosen for construction of new school

The Greenwood Leflore Consolidated School Board has approved the hiring of a project manager to oversee the construction of the district’s new high school.

Dale Partners Architects, a firm with offices in Jackson and Biloxi, was unanimously approved during Tuesday’s board meeting.

To do that work well takes skilled reporters and editors, as many as a community can support through advertising, subscriptions and philanthropy.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
