High court to hear Miss. death row inmate’s appeal

IHL bond request to Legislature expected to be $130 million

The Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning are expecting to make a $130 million bond request to address aging university facilities.
Mississippi Valley State University has the highest maintenance backlog, totaling $108.2 million. The University of Southern Mississippi is close behind with $107.3 million.

New home for EDF

The Greenwood-Leflore-Carroll Economic Development Foundation has moved into its new office in Greenwood’s historic Cotton Row District. The building is located at 105 West Front St. Thomas Gregory, executive director of the foundation, said his grandfather operated T.R. Gregory Cotton Co.

Accused ex-GPD officer was let go by Ruleville PD

To do that work well takes skilled reporters and editors, as many as a community can support through advertising, subscriptions and philanthropy.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
