Leflore County and Carroll County municipal officials attended the Mississippi Municipal League 2025 Mid-Winter Conference, which began Tuesday in Jackson. Municipal officials got an update on the 2025 legislative session Wednesday morning at the Capitol from House Speaker Jason White and Lt. Gov. Delbert Hosemann. Among legislative priorities are cuts in the income tax and grocery tax. MML legislative priorities include the small municipalities grant program and funding for the existing program in the Secretary of State’s Office that financially assists with the cleaning and maintaining of tax-forfeited properties.
