Brantley Snipes, above, gets into the circus theme with her dog Archer, a yellow Labrador retriever dressed as a lion, at Thursday’s fundraiser for Greenwood’s Community Kitchen. The event, held at The Carl Center, raised about $28,000, which will help fund the soup kitchen’s move from its current Johnson Street location to its new home in the building that formerly housed The Crystal Grill. A chocolate meringue pie, one of the desserts for which the landmark restaurant was famous, was auctioned three times, bringing in a total of $940.
