The Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine is now available at CVS in Greenwood.
The pharmacy’s Park Avenue location sent out a text message update Monday morning that the store had started administering a limited amount of the two-dose vaccine to those 16 years and older.
The vaccine is given by appointment only. Appointments can be made online at cvs.com/immunizations/covid-19-vaccine.
Along with the scheduling feature, the website offers many resources and information on what to expect after receiving the shot.
The vaccine is now available in four places in the Greenwood area. The other three are Walmart, Walgreens and the Mississippi State Department of Health distribution site at Florewood.
According to the most recent data from the Health Department, as of Monday morning, 12,938 COVID-19 vaccine doses had been administered in Leflore County and 1,182,605 statewide.
As far as federal pharmacy partnerships — which include CVS and Walgreens — 44,735 people have received the first dosage, and 27,251 have received the second from these facilities. In total, 454,271 people in the state had received both doses of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or one dose of the Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) vaccine.
