About 70 seniors celebrate Valentine’s Day at luncheon

Senior citizens experienced the love of Valentine’s Day on Thursday at the Greenwood Community Center.
Around 70 seniors joined together at the center’s gym to enjoy a hot meal, music and each other’s company.
The luncheon was “an absolute success,” said Debra Adams, who co-founded the center with her husband, Earnest.

Tree giveaway set for Friday

The Leflore County Soil & Water Conservation District will host its annual tree giveaway from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
