Murder case to go to grand jury

A Greenwood man has been bound over to a Leflore County grand jury on a charge of murder in connection with a March 31 shooting.
Daquariann Pilcher, 27, 301 Ave. H, was one of two people accused in the death of Reginald Spivey, who was killed in a shooting that also injured three others outside the Premier Club on U.S. 49.

2 injured by gunshots at store, treated, released

Shots were fired early Monday at a Greenwood convenience store, injuring two people, Police Chief Terrence Craft said Tuesday.
Craft said an unknown assailant arrived at the Chevron station at 800 Main St. and began firing into the building. The two people injured were released from the hospital Monday night.

To do that work well takes skilled reporters and editors, as many as a community can support through advertising, subscriptions and philanthropy.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
