5 new officers, 1 new vehicle: Chief says additions fill important need

Five new Greenwood police officers were presented to the City Council on Tuesday.
The officers are now in service, as is a new 2024 Dodge Durango vehicle, which Police Chief Terrence Craft said should help the department in recruiting.
Craft said the new additions fill a vital need.

Partnership for handyman services approved

The Greenwood City Council has approved partnering with a Pennsylvania-based business to provide optional handyman services for homeowners.
Before the 6-0 vote to approve the partnership on Tuesday, Justin Steinbugl, program director for Integral Group Solution, briefed the council on what residents could expect.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
