Jones reflects on turbulent path

Last season at Mississippi Valley State didn’t end the way Jamari Jones had envisioned.
When the 6-foot-3, 210-pound dual-threat quarterback joined the program in the summer of 2022, he knew winning there would be difficult, yet he still had visions of lifting a championship trophy at the end of the season.

PA claims 5-4 win over WCS 5-4

The Pillow Academy girl netters led the way to another notch in the win column for Pillow last week by narrowly beating Winona Christian School 5-4 in matches that were played on Thursday and Sunday at Twin Rivers.
The Lady Mustangs won all four of their matches against WCS, and the boys won one match.

To do that work well takes skilled reporters and editors, as many as a community can support through advertising, subscriptions and philanthropy.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
