MVSU Names Next Head Coach

Kendrick Wade, a Mississippi Valley State University alumnus and former wide receivers coach, has been named the football program’s 18th head coach.
He replaces Vincent Dancy, who left to join the staff of Deion Sanders at the University of Colorado after leading the Delta Devils’ program for five years.

Dancy headed to Colorado

Mississippi Valley State University head football coach Vincent Dancy has resigned and taken a job under Deion Sanders at the University of Colorado, according to statements released from the MVSU athletic department Thursday morning.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
