Losses pile up for Valley basketball, baseball teams

Mississippi Valley State’s men’s basketball team lost its sixth consecutive game Monday night, 64-56 at Prairie View A&M.
Braelon Bush and Tanahj Pettway combined to score 44 points for the Panthers (5-23, 4-11 SWAC), who led 35-24 at halftime, but were outscored by the Delta Devils 32-29 in the second half.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
