Director of short film to hold auditions for kids at rec center

The director of a short film that will be made in Greenwood is asking those interested in auditioning for it to come by the Greenwood Community and Recreation Center from 10 a.m to noon Saturday.
Another opportunity to audition has been scheduled for 10 a.m. to noon Aug. 19. The center is located at 600 Elm St.

Hibbler has 3-vote lead over Gary

The race for Leflore County chancery clerk remained too close to call Wednesday, as Debra Hibbler’s narrow lead over incumbent Johnny Gary Jr. shrunk to just three votes.
In complete but unofficial returns, Hibbler received 2,203 votes to Gary’s 2,200.

School board's 2-day retreat will be livestreamed

The Greenville retreat of the Greenwood Leflore Consolidated School Board will be available to be streamed by the public.
The board announced on Wednesday during a special-called meeting its decision to stream discussions held during the two-day meeting this Friday and Saturday at Harlow’s Casino Resort and Spa in Greenville.

CEO: No new suitors for hospital

Interest from prospective buyers or lessees of Greenwood Leflore Hospital is at a standstill, according to hospital CEO Gary Marchand.
Marchand spoke briefly at Monday afternoon’s meeting of the Leflore County Board of Supervisors, a public hearing to discuss the sale or lease of the hospital.
