Cold snaps not expected to impact new planting

Planting season is germinating in the minds of many as the recent warmer weather encourages blossoming and growth.

Memorial rodeo to honor Killebrew

Supervisors OK $1.25M for hospital

Greenwood Leflore Hospital will soon receive another $1.25 million in emergency funding from Leflore County.
The expenditure, approved Thursday by the county Board of Supervisors, will fulfill its pledge to put up $2.25 million to help the financially troubled hospital stay open.

Pillow student prepares for state pageant

Julie Day Warren didn’t know what she was getting herself into when she registered for Greenwood’s “Miss Hospitality” pageant.
Now, the Greenwood native and Pillow Academy senior will represent “the heart and soul of the Delta” in the Miss Hospitality Mississippi competition.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
