Itta Bena board urged to devise strategic plan

A representative of North Central Planning and Development District encouraged Itta Bena’s Board of Aldermen on Tuesday to form a strategic plan for grant applications for the coming year.
North Central manages various county projects and grant applications for counties in the northern part of the state.

Delta Health Alliance opens resource, referral center

Delta Health Alliance launched its Resource and Referral Center Tuesday morning at 1305 West Monroe Ave.
Brooks Ann Gaston, who directs the center, said the only items she was still waiting on were tags that will allow resources to be checked out from the center in two-week increments.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
