Remains found in Carroll County confirmed to be Jimmie "Jay" Lee

Law enforcement has confirmed that human remains found in rural Carroll County this past weekend are that of Jimmie “Jay” Lee, a University of Mississippi student who has been missing for more than two years.

This Black History Month banner on Fulton Street is one of 10 owned by the city of Greenwood and hung up around town Tuesday afternoon. There will be no more banners to come, as the Greenwood City Council Tuesday declined to hold a vote on whether to hang more banners. A recently issued state attorney general’s opinion said city property cannot be used for private uses but does provide Greenwood certain discretionary powers to bring “favorable notice” to the city. AG opinion says no on black history banners

Greenwood cannot display banners of any kind on city property for the benefit of a private individual at no cost to the individual, according to a state attorney general’s opinion.

Coleman sentenced to 10 years, $69 million in restitution

OXFORD — John Coleman, the president of the bankrupt Express Grain Terminals, was sentenced Thursday afternoon to 10 years in prison and ordered to pay more than $69 million in restitution to victims of a fraud that cost farmers and investors tens of millions of dollars.
