Prep football: Hartfield hands Pillow first loss, 49-0

Hartfield Academy piled up nearly 400 yards of offense in a 49-0 rout of visiting Pillow Academy on Friday night.
The Class 6A Hawks (3-0) dealt the Class 5A Mustangs (2-1) their first loss in emphatic fashion, scoring four touchdowns on the ground, two through the air and one on a punt return.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
