JT Lawrence put on a show during his final home game at Greenwood High.
After struggling to find his shot early, the Bulldogs senior guard willed his team to a 49-48 victory over Clarksdale by blowing past Wildcat defenders all night long on Tuesday.

The Volunteers, who were the last team to beat the Lions five weeks ago before they won eight games in a row, ended their winning streak Monday by again defeating DSA, 1-0, at Mississippi Valley State.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
