Students show their skills in robotics

A group of sixth grade students at St. Francis of Assisi School put their programming skills to the test Tuesday by participating in a robotics competition.
The students, who were in teams of two and gathered at the school’s cafeteria, each took turns placing a robot on the floor to have it run through an obstacle course.

The unearthing of a time capsule buried 50 years ago in Greenwood will have to wait another day — and questions remain about when people who placed items inside might be able to reclaim them.

Ground broken on Delta Cross

Ground was broken Monday morning on the site at U.S. 82 and U.S. 49 where the Delta Cross will be erected.
“We envisioned it, and today we get to witness the reality,” the Rev. Dr. Jim Phillips, pastor of North Greenwood Baptist Church and the head of the Delta Cross project, told a crowd of observers.

Mentoring Group will hold annual breakfast virtually

After canceling last year’s breakfast due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Bill Clay, the founder of the Mentoring Group, decided to hold this year’s event online via Zoom.
