Greenwood Chorale to present ‘A Night at the Movies’

The Greenwood Chorale is gearing up for its upcoming performance, “A Night at the Movies.”
The concert will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Episcopal Church of the Nativity’s Parish Hall.
The performance will include recognizable songs from motion pictures, from current films to movies from the ’30s and ’40s.

Que on the Yazoo fashion show to feature Humane Society dogs

Six fashion-forward pups will make their runway debut during the Que on the Yazoo festivities.
Through a partnership with downtown Greenwood retailers Fincher’s Inc. and Smith & Co., Fashion for the Fur will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday on the Que on the Yazoo main stage on Front Street.

Que on the Yazoo returns April 29-30

Barbecue enthusiasts have a reason to rejoice.
Que on the Yazoo will make its comeback next weekend — Friday and next Saturday, April 29 and 30.
A favorite downtown Greenwood event, the Memphis Barbecue Network-sanctioned competition is returning after a two-year hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Local news matters to Greenwood. It keeps the people informed and connected. It asks the questions they want answered. It elevates what’s good, and it exposes what’s not.

To do that work well takes skilled reporters and editors, as many as a community can support through advertising, subscriptions and philanthropy.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
