March of Dimes walk to be held

The March of Dimes Walk for Babies will be held Saturday at Greenwood Leflore Hospital’s walking track, which is located outside the Wellness Center.

The event will start at 9 a.m. and will feature face painting, inflatables, hamburgers, hotdogs and a candy bar.

‘Fury’ wrap party full of local flavor

Everyone has a talent, and that’s the theme for the third annual Baptist Town Community Day, which will be held Saturday at the park located on the intersection of Avenue A and Walker Street.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will start at 11 a.m. and go on until the evening.

GLT takes audience back in time

Greenwood Little Theatre’s opening night of “Vintage Hitchcock: A Live Radio Play” gave the audience a first-hand look at a 1940s radio production.

Directed by Pam Powers and Eddie Amelung, the play was set in 1946 at the New York metropolitan radio station WBFR.

To do that work well takes skilled reporters and editors, as many as a community can support through advertising, subscriptions and philanthropy.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
