Local artists ready to show their work

The brick roads and other streets of historic downtown Greenwood will be buzzing with activity from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday during Main Street Greenwood’s annual Art Alfresco.

The event, which kicks off the fall season downtown, will feature works by local artists at participating retailers.

Alzheimer’s walk set for Saturday

The fifth annual Greenwood Walk to End Alzheimer’s will be held Saturday at the Little Red Park on Poplar Street.

Registration will start at the park at 9 a.m., and the 3.22-mile walk will start at 10.

The event is co-sponsored by Garden Park Adult Day Center and Riverview Nursing and Rehabilitation.

To do that work well takes skilled reporters and editors, as many as a community can support through advertising, subscriptions and philanthropy.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
