Lifetime to film Virtuous Divine competition

Greenwood-based dance team Virtuous Divine will host its annual BuckWild competition, which will be filmed for an upcoming episode of Lifetime’s “Bring It!”

The event will be held at the Washington County Convention Center, located at 1040 S. Raceway Road in Greenville.

Doors will open at noon, and the show will start at 2 p.m.

ArtPlace fundraiser brings in $28,000

ArtPlace Mississippi’s inaugural fundraiser, Art & Soul, brought in more than $28,000 for the nonprofit organization.

The event, held Oct. 2-3 and sponsored by The Greenwood Commonwealth, featured a Friday evening garden party and an all-day soul food picnic on Saturday.

“I see those little kids, and they’re probably not going to grow up living in the kind of country we had,” she said. “With all the taxes and all the spending, they’re going to be beholden to the state.”

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
