Greenwood Utilities lends helping hand

This week’s violent weather has prompted Greenwood Utilities to help fellow municipally owned utility companies in Kosciusko and Durant.

Tony Sinclair, Greenwood Utilities CEO, said nine of the utility’s linemen were sent to Durant Sunday evening at the request of Mayor Tasha B. Davis to help with restoring power.

Train collision cleanup continues

State and local officials are dealing with the aftermath of the Sunday morning collision of two CN freight trains in Money.

Regular Amtrak service, which uses the CN lines through Money, was operational this morning, according to Marc Magliari, spokesman for Amtrak.
