Slaying blamed on drug turf war

An Itta Bena man was killed Wednesday night as the result of an ongoing drug turf war, according to authorities.

Dalvin Pacley, 22, 211 Grant St., was pronounced dead at Greenwood Leflore Hospital. He had been shot multiple times with a small-caliber handgun, said Leflore County Sheriff Ricky Banks.

Board seeks financial ‘corrective action’

The Greenwood Leflore Hospital Board went behind closed doors Monday to discuss the facility’s recent financial downturn.

Prior to the beginning of the special meeting, the publicly owned hospital’s executive director, Jim Jackson, said that five layoffs had occurred as of Friday.
