Pillow to hold 50-year party

Leflore County farmers have high hopes for corn harvest

Corn harvesting has begun in Leflore County, and farmers are expecting big things from this year’s crop.

“There’s going to be more and more harvested. I know one producer that’s cut 300 acres, I imagine,” said Andy Braswell Sr., an agent with the Leflore County Extension Service.

Whittington Park to host car show

The Mid-Delta Corvette Club is counting on a big turnout Saturday for its third annual Car, Motorcycle and Truck Show.

The show is from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at Whittington Park.

To enter a vehicle, a $20 registration fee is required. Spectators will be charged $8 at the gate, and children under 12 are admitted free.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
