Greenwood is now employing solar-powered speed detectors in an effort to get motorists to slow down.

Two of the four planned detectors are already in operation — one at the northbound intersection of Grand Boulevard and Jefferson Avenue and the other on north Main Street near the historic railroad underpass.

City still holding line on taxes

Greenwood is again holding the line on taxes as it prepares to approve its 2017 budget.

“We’re still living within our means,” said Mayor Carolyn McAdams.

A public hearing on the proposed $11.29 million budget will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday in City Hall.

Organist ‘extraordinaire’ to perform here in Sept.

World renowned organist Stephen Tharp is coming to Greenwood and will perform a free concert on Sept. 22.

The concert will be at 7:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church and is expected to last 45 minutes without intermission.

Prior to the concert, a brief rededication ceremony of the sanctuary and organ will be held.
