St. Francis to hold first responders Mass

The students, faculty and staff of St. Francis of Assisi Elementary School will show their support for first responders with a Wednesday morning Mass.

The Mass — the first one of its type coordinated by the school — will be at 9 a.m. in the sanctuary of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic church.

“I’ve been bail bonding for 15 years, and I’ve been pastoring for 10 years. Bail bonding came first. I was an evangelist, I just wasn’t pastoring,” said Gray, 51.

Nearly 600 sign up for race events

Despite the occasional shower, the 36th annual 300 Oaks Road Race seemed to be a big hit Saturday.

“I think the showers made it more fun. The rain really came at the right time with the ‘Color Me Greenwood’ race,” said Beth Stevens, executive director of the Greenwood-Leflore County Chamber of Commerce.
