Mississippi Valley State University graduating seniors L.E. Carter III, left, and Thaddeus Brooks, right, members of Valley’s mock trial team, took home law school scholarships from the John Marshall University Diversity Mock Trial Competition held in Chicago. Both Carter and Brooks received $2,000 scholarships as Outstanding Trial Advocates Award winners. Brooks’ team finished second in the national championship round. For his second-place win, Brooks received an additional $9,000 law school scholarship. Holding Brooks’ second-place trophy is Larry Chappell, Valley’s pre-law adviser and professor of political science.
